The Subway
No, we’re not talking about a great sandwich place, but about The Subway at Zion National Park. This hike is difficult, but well worth every step to this breathtaking destination. Along the way, you will see numerous cascades, waterfalls, and emerald pools. The Left Fork Trailhead is about 20 miles north of The Driftwood Lodge in Springdale. Once at the parking lot, you will need to hike down to the Left Fork of North Creek where the trail to The Subway actually starts.
This hike is roughly 8 miles and can take anywhere from 5 to 9 hours. Having snacks and water is a must along with water shoes as there are many opportunities to get your feet wet. The National Park Service only allows 80 people to hike The Subway every day and requires you to have a wilderness permit. You can learn more about these permits at the park’s visitor center.
